Senior Vice President of Human Resources Expands Role to Include Oversight of Company’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Efforts
PHILADELPHIA (November 18, 2020) – Spectra, an industry leader in Venue Management, Food Services & Hospitality, and Partnerships, today announced its Senior Vice President of Human Resources William Hughston has been named the organization’s first Chief Diversity Officer.
While Hughston will maintain his current responsibilities as head of HR, he will now also lead the company's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy, programs and initiatives.
Spectra has long been committed to DEI, but across the last several months the company has formalized its plan to evolve and accelerate those efforts by establishing a diversity framework and strategy with measurable benchmarks and goals.
Hughston has recently led the charge in creating Spectra’s DEI Executive Council and companywide network of Regional Champions; facilitated the establishment of key workforce, workplace and marketplace metrics; helped to launch the new LGBTQ+ employee resource group, Spectra Pride; and overseen the delivery of a variety of DEI-related educational events.
“We are thrilled to now have a Chief Diversity Officer in place who will hold us accountable as an organization and set us up for positive change within our company, among our communities, and across the industry,” Spectra’s CEO Dave Scott said. “William’s outstanding leadership in our DEI initiatives, coupled with his undeniable passion for social justice, makes him uniquely positioned to take on this expanded role.”
As Chief Diversity Officer, Hughston and his team will continue to track and report progress and work to achieve wide-scale adoption of DEI across Spectra’s three divisions, and throughout the Spectra-run venues across North America and globally.
“I’m honored to have been selected as Spectra’s first-ever Chief Diversity Officer,” Hughston said. “It’s heartening to see the many purposeful steps forward Spectra is taking to establish our strategic vision and approach to DEI. I look forward to working with the DEI Executive Council and my Spectra teammates across the globe to address racial, gender and other inequalities while fostering a more equitable and inclusive environment.”
